The RoHS 2 Directive will be implemented in the EU Member States by 2 January 2013. The new directive aims to increase the security of electronic products and to prevent the release of dangerous substances into the environment, taking into account the restriction of new substances, exemptions, the new legislative framework of the EU and compliance with the REACH Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006.


Directive 2002/95 / EC on the Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment and the new Directive of the EU (RoHS 2) replacing the former RoHS directive with lead, mercury, cadmium, +6 valued chromium, polybromatic biphenyls from flame retardants and restriction of polybrominated diphenyl ethers again continues.


Within the scope of the scope of the new directive, the application was extended to include all electrical and electronic equipment (including medical devices, monitoring and control instruments). Thus, the product category was increased to 11 by adding 3 new categories to 8 categories under the former directive. The product categories included in the new directive include: large household appliances, small appliances, IT and telecommunications, equipment, consumer equipment, lighting equipment, electrical and electronic equipment, toys, entertainment and sports equipment, medical devices, industrial monitoring and control equipment. industrial monitoring and control instruments, automatic distributors, other electrical and electronic equipment not covered by the above categories.
